Sorority and Fraternity Life Update – February 3, 2021
As the recruitment season begins for our Ohio State sororities and fraternities, the Sorority and Fraternity Life team wants to provide students with the information to choose a recognized fraternity to call home.
Unrecognized organizations sometimes call themselves “off-campus fraternities.” These groups have had their recognition revoked by Ohio State for various violations of the Code including hazing, alcohol misuse, endangering behavior and failure to comply with university policies and expectations. The majority of these organizations have also had their charter suspended or removed by their inter/national headquarters.
Organizations that have had their recognition suspended by the university due to violations of the Code of Student Conduct are:
- Alpha Epsilon Pi (AEPi/AEPs, APES)
- Chi Phi
- Kappa Sigma (Kappa Sig)
- Phi Delta Theta (Phi Delt)
- Phi Kappa Psi (Phi Psi)
- Pi Kappa Alpha (Pike)
- Sigma Alpha Mu (Sammy)
- Sigma Pi
- Tau Kappa Epsilon (TKE, Teke)
- Theta Tau
- Zeta Beta Tau (ZBT)
All students and families should review the list of recognized fraternities and avoid joining an unrecognized group. To view the list, please visit the Chapters webpage.
If you have any questions, please reach out to the Sorority and Fraternity Life staff.
