Council Awards & Recognition
Association of Fraternal Leadership and Values (AFLV)
In February 2024, 43 SFL Buckeyes headed to the Association of Fraternity Leadership & Values (AFLV) Central conference in Indianapolis, IN. AFLV Central is the largest gathering of sorority and fraternity students in the country with more than 2,000 attendees from more than 150 campuses, and over 200 educational sessions. AFLV Central also includes the National Black Greek Leadership Conference. This year we also had 6 presentations, 3 of which were presented by student leaders including:

“YARD Maintenance: Considerations After Opening an NPHC Plaza” by Kimmara Yarbrough (NPHC)

“Oh You’re the President: Women of Color Leading Predominantly White Organizations” by Ari Fonge (PHA)
While at AFLV our councils received the following recognition! There are three recognition levels for each of the Directional Areas – Accountability, Collaboration, Education, and Innovation. A council must apply for all four areas in order to be eligible for the Overall Excellence Awards.

Accountability: A council’s ability to follow through, manage responsibly, and expect high standards from the community it governs.

- Collaboration: The ability to work successfully among the council, chapters, staff, and larger community.

- Education: The ability to educate all council members about necessary, relevant, and progressive topics.

Lastly, we are excited to share that two of our councils received the highest honors presented to the councils:
- 2024 Overall MGC Excellence Award - 2nd consecutive award!

The Multicultural Greek Council received the Overall MGC Excellence award after scoring the highest across the 4 council compass categories. Their application highlights the Culture and Identity Fair the council hosted last November which was a great example of advocacy and innovation to meet the needs of the community.

The National Pan-Hellenic Council won the Page Award, which is awarded to the overall NPHC council. Their application highlighted the council bringing back the NPHC Step Show, providing Mental Health programming for the community, and sponsoring 9 scholarships to the Order of Omega (Greek Honorary)!

North American Interfraternity Conference (NIC) Awards of Distinction
The Interfraternity Council at Ohio State received four Awards of Distinction from the NIC this year! Awards of Distinction are given to IFCs and individuals across the nation and Canada to celebrate the good work they accomplish in the previous calendar year. We are so proud of the Ohio State IFC and the student leaders who dedicate their time and talent to their community. Congratulations to the Ohio State IFC on the following awards!
