How To Become Second Year Approved

Second Year Living Requirement Check List

Second Year Approval is an annual registration process.  Chapters will need to indicate that they are interested in being second year approved for the following academic year in December.

Steps for approval:

  1. Indicate desire to be approved by completing the interest form.
  2. Submit required documentation, typically due in February
    1. Rooming license
    2. Fire inspection
    3. Kitchen license (only if using commercial kitchen)
    4. Hood inspection (only if using commercial kitchen)
    5. Boiler inspection (only applicable if there is a boiler)
    6. Backflow inspection (this is part of the sprinkler system, if the house doesn’t have a sprinkler system you don’t need this)
    7. House Director job description
    8. House Director background check
  3. Schedule annual walk through, typically held in February
  4. Submit housing roster by March 1.  These rosters are how students become exempt from the live on requirement.  It is the responsibility of the chapter to ensure they have submitted the correct information in a timely manner.  University housing contracts are not transferable to chapter facilities.  The deadline to cancel a university housing contract is March 31, 2025
